Newcomers Club of Amelia Island Florida
P.O.
BOX 16242 FERNANDINA BEACH,
FLORIDA 32035-3121 Welcome Visitors and Members of the Newcomers Club, we hope you find the information you need on this site.
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE . . . The holidays brought out
the giving side in all of us, so let’s continue our tradition of giving to one another with the GIVE A HEART RAFFLE. Take the time to find a gift to give or give the gift of time. Offer to help organize her closet, weed a garden,
or run errands. February is all about love and friendship and we have an abundance of “girlfriends”
to share with, in Newcomers. At the same time you will be making a donation to those in need right here in our community. So
please let Cindy Mackenzie know how you plan to make a difference. Our February Luncheon and Raffle will be here
before you know it!
Debbie Price has agreed to coordinate a new carpool program for the times we plan out-of-town activities. This way those members who are not comfortable driving the distance can
still participate. In addition, Linda Campbell has agreed to take over the Birthday Bouquet position. We
thank Marianne McCoy for her many years in that capacity and realize her work involvement takes priority. We have to thank Nancie Waldron and
Jessica Styers for their hard work in securing an additional TREX tour to JAXPORT, for those on their waiting list. Be sure to check out the new Wednesday
location for the Walking Group. Llona and Jill have decided to mix it up with a change of scenery. The Night Owls are taking on the daylight
hours for their February activity and are going to the opening day of the Amelia Island Garden Show on March 3rd with lunch instead of dinner afterward. Dr. Tony Stubits, author of The Ocean Under the Moon, will make a guest appearance at this month’s Book Review Group. What a great opportunity
for discussion! We
still have many fun activities yet to attend in January, including a Cocktail Party at Marcia and Al Petuz’s home and
our Luncheon at the Verandah. Then in February it’s Larry and the Backtracks at the Cocktail Party hosted by Carol and
Norman Weldon, and our Coffee at the North Hampton Amenity Center hosted by Carolyn Portegies-Zwart and Susan Kosciulek. Now that we are all getting back into
a routine and are attempting to honor our New Year’s resolution not to procrastinate, can we get those Membership Applications
mailed in ASAP. Alice (Treasurer), Joy (Member Data) and Jessica (Yearbook) will be grateful to you for making their jobs
a bit easier. Hope to
see you soon….. Hugs, Beth
